DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:
Business Development within Regional Client Base
Identify and develop business opportunities within existing client base across Grindrod Logistics' service offering, including: Warehousing, Transport, Depot services
Engage with prospective customers to understand their logistics requirements and identify appropriate solutions
Develop and maintain a pipeline of growth customers and opportunities within the existing client base
Support the preparation and submission of proposals, quotations, tenders and RFQs
Follow up on commercial opportunities and maintain regular communication with prospective customers
Support the conversion of opportunities into contracted and operational business
Existing Customer & Key Account Support
Maintain strong professional relationships with existing customers
Act as a commercial point of contact for allocated customers and assist with customer enquiries and requirements
Understand customer operations, service requirements and commercial expectations
Identify opportunities for account growth, cross-selling and extended business
Proactively follow up on customer requirements and outstanding actions
Assist with resolving customer service issues by coordinating with the relevant internal departments
Escalate operational, commercial or service-related concerns where required
Maintain regular customer engagement through meetings, calls, emails and site visits
Ensure customer feedback is communicated to the relevant internal stakeholders
Quotations, Pricing & Tenders
Receive and review customer RFQs and pricing requests
Coordinate with Pricing, Operations, Transport, Warehousing and Depot teams to obtain the information required to prepare accurate quotations
Prepare commercial proposals and quotations in accordance with company pricing guidelines and approval processes
Ensure quotations accurately reflect customer requirements, operational costs, applicable rates and commercial assumptions
Assist with tender submissions and ensure that required information is submitted within stipulated deadlines
Follow up on submitted quotations and tenders
Maintain records of quotations, proposals, tenders and customer correspondence
Ensure appropriate commercial approvals are obtained before proposals are issued to customers
Assist with rate reviews, annual increases, rebates and customer-specific commercial arrangements
Salesforce & Opportunity Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and opportunity information on Salesforce
Capture new opportunities in accordance with the company's opportunity management process
Maintain opportunity stages, values, commencement dates, probability, and other required information
Ensure opportunities are correctly classified, including new business, extended business and existing business
Update opportunity progress following customer engagements, meetings, proposals and commercial discussions
Monitor aged opportunities and follow up on outstanding actions
Maintain accurate pipeline information for management reporting
Ensure closed-won and closed-lost opportunities are appropriately updated with supporting information and reasons
Customer Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and maintain regular customer reports relating to:
Agreed KPI’s, measurement and corrective action on understood cause
Monthly performance meeting feedback and progress updates
Development of relationship with clients on all levels of client; strategic; tactical and operational
Assist with identifying trends, risks, opportunities and variances within the existing client base.
Contract & Commercial Administration
Assist with the administration and maintenance of customer commercial documentation.
Coordinate documentation required for existing customers, including:
Contracts
Rate agreements
Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
Credit applications
Standard Trading Conditions
Signed quotations
Supporting commercial documentation.
Ensure required documentation is obtained and appropriately filed
Monitor outstanding documentation and follow up with customers and internal stakeholders
Support the commercial contract workflow from initial preparation through internal review, customer approval and finalisation
Maintain appropriate records of customer rates and commercial agreements.
Assist with ensuring current rates and agreements are correctly maintained and communicated to relevant stakeholders
Internal Stakeholder Coordination
Work closely with internal departments to ensure customer requirements are understood and actioned
Liaise with:
Operations
Transport
Warehousing
Depot
Finance
Pricing
Procurement
Legal
Coordinate information required to develop commercially viable logistics solutions
Ensure customer commitments are communicated to operational teams
Assist with the handover of new opportunities from Commercial to Operations
Follow up on implementation requirements and outstanding actions
Support effective communication between the customer and internal stakeholders
Customer Service & Issue Resolution
Respond professionally and timeously to customer enquiries
Investigate customer queries and coordinate with the relevant internal departments to obtain resolutions
Assist with service recovery and customer communication where operational challenges occur
Maintain clear records of customer issues, actions and resolutions
Identify recurring service issues and communicate these to management
Assist in maintaining strong customer relationships through proactive communication and follow-up
Ensure customer expectations are clearly understood and communicated internally
REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:
Postgraduate diploma/bachelor’s degree in business management or marketing
Experience:
3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in commercial environment
Experience in customer service, marketing or sales related field
Proven track record of sales growth
