DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:

General Responsibilities

• Load trucks to destinations as per instruction.

• Ensure safe driving, cognizance of signs, people, equipment, and buildings and always report incidents to manager.

• Ensure drivers standing position, not to stand between trucks during loading and no passenger carried on loader.

• Ensure no unauthorised person allowed driving loader & loader is not to be parked on a crossing.

• Effective/efficient manoeuvring of the equipment.

• Efficient movement of material.

• Execute manager/supervisors’ instructions.

• Be presentable all the time and ensure that machines are clean.

• Identify/prevent any unforeseen incidents/accidents.

• Be able to communicate with all levels of authority.

• Report defects and check equipment.

• Always ensure operational readiness of equipment.

  
  

Operational Responsibilities

• Ensure that Machines are always clean.

• Ensure that operational staff and casuals are fully aware of duties and that these duties are being carried out.

• Ensure the machine is operational ready for shift duty (fuel checks, defects reporting).

• Make sure that dust control is done by ensuring that the stockpiles and ground are kept wet.

• Ensure yard is kept clean, this includes that all spillages are picked up.

• Report deviations.

• Shift handover should be done at the Machine.

• To understand different Product commodity.

• Execute materials movement within the specified operations procedures.

• To be aware of all the hazards in his workplace.

• Attend safety talks.

• Work schedules from manager/supervisor to be adhered to and report back on completed tasks to manager/supervisor.

• Check and supervise that all staff operating machinery during shifts are awake and aware of their equipment.

• Ensure safe loading of road trucks and rail wagons.

• Ensure correct cargo to be loaded.

• Always keep loading place clean.

• Record all truck numbers.

• Make out all required documentation (rail cards etc).

• Stock control in the yard to be monitored.

• Communicate operations related info to shift relief to familiarize on-coming operator with tasks in hand and instructions received.

• Drafting reports for customers.

Health and Safety

• Maintain hygiene & housekeeping requirements within your sectors.

• All relevant adherence and maintenance concerning the SHERQ policies and procedures applicable to your point of responsibility.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualification/s:

A valid Grade 12 certificate.

Experience:

• 2-3 years of experience in a similar role or related industry.

• Good communication skills

• A valid driver's license
