DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:
Operations Oversight:
Manage warehouse operations: receiving, dispatch, bonded cargo, customs stop, order picking
Ensure product integrity, cargo safety, and regulatory compliance across cargo types (e.g. hazardous, mining minerals)
Oversee WMS operations, accurate inventory control, and KPI tracking
Ensure alignment of daily operations with customer SLAs and company goals
Performance Management & Leadership:
Lead and supervise a team of warehouse staff
Mentor and develop staff through structured training and coaching
Conduct performance evaluations and enforce accountability
Promote a high-performance and safety-oriented culture
Peoples Management:
Supervision of staff
Develop and motivate staff
Monitor and coordinate activities and performance of staff
On the Job Training for Clerks, Operators and General Assistants
Compliance:
Coordinate the activities prescribed in the safety management program
Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures
Follow established safety procedures when performing duties such as lifting and climbing
Correct unsafe work conditions and practices, report deviations to the Warehouse Manager / SHEQ Officer
Ad hoc Responsibilities:
Other duties could include working in areas outside the normal scope and areas to provide support
Duties to perform will be in line with achieving Customer requirements, specific company goals or targets and motivating and driving performance standards
QUALIFICATIONS
Matric certificate with advanced computer literacy skills
Relevant qualifications in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field
Freight Handling Certificate or an equivalent qualification
Experience:
3 to 5 years’ experience in Warehousing & Distribution
3 + years’ experience in a Supervisory role
Required Skills:
Working knowledge of customs control areas/ Bond Stores
Knowledge of the OHS Act
Inventory Management
Human Resource Controls
Training and Development
