DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:
Departmental Management
Manage staff, in the co-ordination of movement of Cargo / products into or out of the country in accordance with company policy, procedure and legislative requirements
Ensure the quality management system is kept up to date and improved in a controlled environment
Ensure the smooth clearance and handling of cargo and documentation to the satisfaction of the client’s requests
Maintain and develop existing relationships with clients, service providers, and staff
Participate in operational strategies improving service delivery and compliance
Provide sufficient management information and / or visibility to enhance decision-making
Departmental Compliance
Ensure recording of daily truck upliftment’s is being achieved and daily pre-alert bookings are communicated to suppliers (including weekends)
Oversee invoicing to ensure all loads are invoiced and reconciled against Service Providers POD’s
Plan and schedule daily and weekly routes
Ensure that the transport department dispatch drivers to complete deliveries
Review driver logs and tracking in accordance with specific routing, if required
Register and respond to client feedback or complaints
Transport Department Compliance
Coordination and management of activities that ensure relevant compliance in the following areas:
Occupational compliance
Road Traffic Act
Transportation of Hazardous Goods
TFR Requirements
ISO 9001, 1400
RTMS
Quality Control
Evaluate and monitor the quality of processes and implement corrective action in accordance with the following:
ISO 9001 ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 and 22000
Administration
Approve and implement corrective action where necessary
Provide input into the budget process
Conduct and plan self-audits
Sub-contractor management
Reviewing monthly reports in order to determine operational effectiveness
Building and maintaining customer relationships
Monitoring company performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Ensuring processes and procedures comply with legislation, customer requirements, as well as operational demands
Finance Management
Effectively controlling and reporting on expenditure
Developing and providing annual budget recommendations for fleet and sub-contractor operations
Developing the annual fleet and subcontractor budget
REQUIREMENTS
We invite applications from candidates who meet the following minimum criteria:
Qualification:
Degree or diploma in Logistics / Supply chain and Bachelor of Commerce or similar
Industry qualifications are an advantage
Experience:
3-5 years or more experience in transport industry
Minimum 2 years' supervisory or people management experience within a transport, logistics, fleet, or supply chain environment
Exposure to engagement with outsourced sub-contractors and drivers
Technically sound in Transport Operations
Knowledge of Fuel Management
Cost Reduction Strategies
